What is Eikona?

The concept behind Eikona is to provide an amazing outdoor experience designed around encouraging personal Spiritual Growth and Discovery.

Specifically geared towards people ages 18 to 25, this program encompasses many of the core curriculum found in the first year of Bible College.

The main difference of the program is the incredible outdoor environment it is framed in! Many additional courses are added to help build into the outdoor adventure aspect of the program as well.

This is a perfect 30 week program for the fresh out of High School Student that is looking for a healthy Spritual grounding before jumping into the busy post secondary or career world. eikona is also the perfect environment to find out who you are and where you think god may want you to be going! As an affordable discipleship program experience, Eikona is perfect for the individual who loves the outdoors!

Spiritual Discovery

  • Old Testament and New Testament Survey
    • General Overview of the Bible focusing on general themes, Messianic Prophecies, etc.
  • How to Study the Bible
    • Development of study tools and habits
    • Importance in the Christian Life, application, etc.
  • Focused study of
    • Genesis, Psalms, Acts, James
  • Freedom in Christ
    • Realization of our personal history and the baggage that accompanies it
    • Finding freedom from personal baggage through the power of Christ
  • Spiritual Disciplines
    • Study of the different disciplines and their function, use, importance, etc
    • Tools to develop a deepening relationship with our Creator through the deliberate practice of these Spiritual disciplines
  • Spiritual Gifts
    • Recognizing and applying Spiritual gifts in ministry
  • Hearing God
    • Tools to listen to and obey God's leading

  • It is recommended that all students bring the following gear items. You are encouraged to purchase gear that will serve you best in the long term and will function well. An outdoor adventure store such as MEC will be able to help you choose items appropriate for the types of outripping we will be doing.

    • A good 70litre internal frame backpack with rain cover
    • Solid hiking boots (preferably leather, waterproof and insulated)
    • A lightweight 3 season mummy style sleeping bag (-7 to -12 minimum)
    • Lightwieght sleeping pad (foam or thermarest
    • Waterbottle (nalgene with wide mouth or equivalent), eating utencils, and a good multipurpose knife(swiss army, leatherman, etc)
    • Rain gear including hood and pants (a good multi use jacket like a 3 in 1 for winter use as well is recommended)
    • Rubber Boots or gators
    • Waterproof Matches in watertight case, weatherproof light(preferably a head lamp style), whistle(no moving parts ie fox 40 style)
    • Sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent(minimum 20% DEET, recommended muskol oil)
    • Outdoor clothing including warm clothing, fast drying swimwear, thermal layer, polyester or wool hiking socks, winter gear with good winter boots
    • All other gear you think you will need to live for 30 weeks ie. bible, journal, regular colthing, bedding for twin sized beds, walking shoes, toiletries, etc.
